  • RPM A-Arms (Front)
  • RPM Tru-Track Rear
  • Spektrum DX3R Transmitter/Receiver
  • Orange/Gold Springs on Progressive-2 Rockers
  • Traxxas Sway Bar Kit
  • HPI Phaltline Wheels/Tires (For On-Road)
  • Proline Racing Crime Fighter Wheels/Tires (For Dirt Track Racing)

Installing the Receiver

Installed and back together (Before I fried the stock Titans)

So at this point I fried my Titans after running them through water and getting debris in them. I was intending to simply replace them with another set of Titans until the Castle/Neu Combo was released, but I couldn't even get a set of Titans anywhere soon as my LHS's suppliers were all out.

That's where going with the Mamba Max twin idea come in. I already had a spare Mamba Max 5700 combo from another vehicle that I wasn't using, and my LHS had one in stock. Two hours later and three of us working on the RC at the LHS, we had a working M-Twin. I can't say it was the first however, because that morning the Hobby Shop owner had already put a pair of Sidewinder 4600 Combos in his E-Revo. (He likewise fried his motors on the third run)

Sway Bars

I must say this thing flies. It's easily as fast as a Nitro Revo now. (Which is exactly what I was going for) I'm using 12T pinions and I have the timing on the ESCs set to Lowest. I intend to experiment until I find a good Speed:Temp ratio.

I'm using a Castle BEC and a variant of the "Unslow Harness" I've connect the ESCs power directly together and I use a parallel Y-Harness to power both ESCs. It's being powered by a pair of Venom 5000mah 7-Cell NiHMs, though I have MaxAmps 4700s as well.

The following are already installed and I will update here soon with pictures and information:

  • RPM A-Arms & Tru-Track
  • HPI Phaltline Wheels/Tires
  • Proline Racing Crime Fighter Wheels/Tires

The following are planned upgrades:

  • Castle Creations Mamba Monster Max Combo (Replacing Dual Mamba Max ESCs/Motors)

  1. Hi,

Wow that is one awesome rc car…how fast will it go do you think? Awesome specification….

    Wicked blog as well!!!

    Cheers

    Grant

  2. I’ve actually since I posted this changed a few things. The biggest being that it now runs a Mamba Monster ESC and Neu 1512 1Y Brushless motor.

I haven’t actually done any speed runs as yet, but according to the RC Speed Calculator, I should be easily able to break 60mph on 6S with the new motor/ESC.

  3. Hi,

That is an insane speed! Just shows how far technology has come since the old motors that used bushes etc….

The gap is closing between nitro and electric rc cars now for sure in terms of performance.

How does the car hasndle at that speed? Is it fairly stable?

  4. The gap between Nitro and Electric has long since been past now. Brushless speeds are quite often much faster than their Nitro counterparts. E.G. The Savage X 4.6SS (Nitro) has a stock top speed of 45MPH whereas the Savage Flux (Brushless) has a stock top speed of 60MPH. The Revo 3.3 (Nitro) has a stock top speed of 45MPH whereas the E-Revo Brushless has a stock top speed of 65 MPH. 1/8th Scale Brushless has really changed the game.

As for handling, it actually handles really well at high speeds. The E-Revo is really low to the ground and I have Pro-Line Crime Fighter LPR tires on it now that grip really well to almost any surface. I also installed the Traxxas sway bar kit to keep it level and reduce understeer. It’s definitely better handling than any of my other monster trucks. My Savage Flux flips quite easily at high speeds, but it has a lot more ground clearance though it’s definitely not set up for racing.

  5. dude how exactly hook up 2 motors to one spur gear or did you put in another one?

  6. dude how did you put in 2 motors and did you use 1 or 2 spur gears?

  7. hellfire and rccarz fan are the same person to clear things up a bit.

  8. looks like he ran the input wires from the battery’s black w/ black an red w/ red, into the traxxas plug. must be on the hot side. then might of did a “Y” wire back out to the two batterys. just my guess.

  9. dude nice car im a beginner any tips on if i would need to buy a new motor cause mines 11400 kv and drains really fast any suggestions-running mamba max.

P.S. how long does it take you to drain your batteries

  10. how much did you pay for the whole setup. everything included.

  11. I did this to my revo but i run 6s lipo it was really fast. i ended up buying a mamba monster and its just a little bit slower.

  12. hi! this article was very helpful for me. But it was difficult to find it with google.com. Maybe you should improve it with plugins for wordpress like WP seo. :)
