Axial Infrared Temperature Gun

I bought this Axial Infrared Temperature Gun (AX20000) so that I can monitor the temperature on my nitro engines.  I’ve had it for a couple of years and I’ve found it very useful. I know there are RC Car gurus out there that can tune and tweak their nitro engines just by listening to them hum, but personally I prefer to be able to measure the temperature of my engine so that I can see how any adjustments I do affect the temperature.  Using a temperature gun like this is...

HPI Savage Flux 2350

The Savage Flux 2350 is Savage Flux HP’s “little” brother.  It is the newest addition to the Savage line of monster trucks, and is basically a slightly scaled down version of the Savage Flux HP that’s a bit easier on your pocket book. The main differences between this kit and the Savage Flux HP is that the Savage Flux 2350 comes with an Alphastar 2350 electric brushless motor with Q-Base ESC – as opposed to the Tork 2200 and Flux Blur that comes with the Savage Flux HP –   and...

MBX5T With No Engine

Two years ago I picked up this Mugen Seiki MBX5T Prospec kit and finished building it to the point where I needed to install an engine. Unfortunately, the engine mount that came with the kit did not fit the Axial engine I bought so I had to put the build on hold to find a proper engine mount or to modify the engine mount that came with the kit. After a couple of weeks of looking around for an engine mount kit that would fit, I realized (1) I needed...

Traxxas Revo 3.3

Traxxas Revo 3.3 #5309 – First Glance

The new Revo 3.3 is now 10% larger than the previous version of the Revo, making it both wider and taller.  The new size should give it more stability due to the extra 1 inch in width the new Revo 3.3 now boasts.  More importantly, the overall size increase should also make it even more fun for Bashing. New ProGraphix Painted Body The new Revo 3.3 comes with a professionally painted ProGraphix body with fully applied decals.  The body comes in 4 color variations although it may not be easy...

11.1 Volt LiPo Batteries

This is a guide to 11.1v LiPo batteries on the market right now.  First lets cover some of the basics of LiPo batteries. What Are LiPo Batteries? Lithium Polymer (LiPo) batteries are not a new type of battery.  If you own a laptop, cell phone, PDA, or an iPod then you’re probably already using LiPo batteries.  LiPo batteries are relatively new to the RC car hobby, becoming more popular in the recent years.  The two biggest differences between LiPo batteries and NiCad or NiMH batteries is that LiPo batteries are...

It’s Alive!

It’s been a while since I had a chance to update the site. Sorry about that. I’ve had a few people asking how the project alluded in the last post was coming.  Here’s a peak of it’s progress: More to come.

Big Ass Wheels

The wheels are turning, proverbially and literally.  The “Unbreakable” Savage Build continues.  The wheels are installed and can be seen in the picture below. There’ll be a few changes from the plans on the project page, the most obvious being that I won’t be able to install the HPI 17mm Hex Hub conversion set as planned as I’d have to install smaller (and therefore more easily broken) dogbones to accommodate them.  We’re  looking for a 17mm hex adapter similar to what Traxxas offers for their Revo and Maxx trucks.  Unfortunately...
